I was so inspired when this skirt arrived in the store from Marc by Marc Jacobs. It is the perfect skirt for this season and what is even more fabulous is that I can wear it to work AND also on the weekends. Being in the city quite frequently as of recent, most of the women whose style I have admired on the street, have been pairing casual tees (T by Alexander Wang, Monrow, Helmut Lang) with these fun above-the-knee skirts.  This is definitely one of my favorite looks for the season – uber-feminine with a bit of nonchalant ease and romanticism. I have loved skirts for years and this new Marc skirt is the perfect addition to my skirt wardrobe. The other day I paired it with my white racerback tank from T by Alexander Wang and my silver python flats. It was the perfect weekend outfit. If only I had happened upon a farmer’s market or had the time to stroll through town, it is the perfect running errands outfit. The week before I paired it up for work with my navy Smythe blazer, Elizabeth and James black faux python high heel gladiators, and a white Elizabeth and James button down. The perfect work outfit for the season – tailored, yet a bit of summer ease thrown in to balance the seriousness of the tailoring.

I can see myself wearing this skirt A LOT this summer. It is so completely Marc, so totally relevant, and most of all so much fun.

This time of year all my mind thinks about is beach. Now I am not a beach-goer by any means, but for those who live by the ocean you can understand the sense of ease and romance that permeate the mind, all in a palette of pastels. When I get dressed most often in the summer, my color palette varies from the usual greys and blacks and pops of these pastels emerge here and there. This Shoshanna one shoulder dress is just the perfect summer dress that reflects this mentality. It is just the most beautifully serene seaglass color and the ease at which the silk drapes up on the shoulder and down the body is positively amazing. Pair it with nude, silver, gold, or earth-tones – great summer jewelry and the sexy ease and chic aura will radiate. Of course, once my summer dreaminess subsides, I will not hesitate to add a black corset belt and black caged shoes to this dress and keep on wearing it for the rest of the year!

Shoshanna in the Summer.

What a better day than today, our first day above 90 degrees,  to receive our Shoshanna summer collection. Color, color, color! I just love that the flowers outside are bursting with fabulous aromas in shades of bright pink and purple all amongst a backdrop of intense green grass and leaves. Shoshanna telepathically must have known that her dresses were going to arrive today as they are the perfect reflection to the day’s beautiful scenery.  The begonia pinks, vivid violet, and seaglass green are sure to make anyone smile when wearing them. It is hard to pick a favorite – they are all so wearable and so much fun. Thank you for making us smile with seasonal glee!

What I love about this dress is the fact that it is so sexy and yet it is denim! Leave it to the denim royalty over at Rag + Bone to create the perfect corset dress out of dark wash denim. The sweetheart neckline is pure genius and I love the black suede detailing. This dress would be perfect for any fun evening event this season. The fit is amazing and the dress itself is super easy to wear. For the more fashion forward, paired with one of our Camilla Skovgaard shoes this dress would certainly command attention. For the more structured of styles, pair it with a black blazer -such as our cropped Helmut Lang with sculpted shoulder – to make the dress more work, day, or subdued evening appropriate.  Either way, this is the perfect out-of-the box sophisticate yet fun denim dress we have ever seen.

We just love Alice + Olivia’s new arrival for summer. The Marshall Combo Shirtdress (top left) is the perfect style marriage of the combo bandage pieces we have been seeing this past year with a seasonally relevant cotton/linen fabric in stone and white. This dress is so refreshing. It is the perfect choice for bringing the sexy bandage combo dress into daytime as well as an office work environment without pushing the envelope. The Khaki Romper (top right) is super cute. It is sold with the belt and just exudes summer with a “Out of Africa” appeal – so Meryl in an oh so modern way- I would pair this with our new Loeffler Randall origami sandal photographed below in our blog and even with one of our caged high heels for a night out (such as our Camilla Skovgaard saw cutout sandals). Who says safari can’t show some leg and be a touch wild for summer?

This dress is just magnificent. It is from Phillip Lim’s new Summer 2010 Collection. The color falls somewhere between a nude, buff, petal, and blush – it is just the most delicate dress and so refreshing for the season. The silk laser cut lace lays just every so gently on itself and the back has Lim’s signature hook and eye bra closure.  The bralette detailing on the front is so coy with a peek-a-boo cut out right below the chest. This dress exudes femininity and in the modern ease that we all love from Phillip Lim.  Wear this dress with a bronze metallic shoe or nude heel for a special occassion or pair it with our new Loeffler Randall flats (below) for a much more day inspired look. This is my new favorite dress for the season – it truly is one of a kind.
