Loeffler Randall Over The Knee Riley Boot

Over-the-knee: it isn’t going anywhere. Last year I was very hesitant about  OTK boots as I wondered whether it was a fleeting trend that the likes of only the Victoria Beckhams out there could pull off, but not quite appropriate looking for the rest of us. Last year designers only offered over-the-knee styles that were stiletto and very over the top. I was so excited this year to see that designers have married the over-the-knee idea with styles that evoke a sense of classic ease, a bit equestrian, and of course a bit of sex appeal as well (they are over the knee after all). This evolution of the over-the-knee boot this season has officially solidified  over-the-knee boots as a staple for every woman’s wardrobe for years to come. They aren’t going anywhere and there are so many options out there this season that even the most timid will be able to fall head over knee for them.

We already received our Alexander Wang over-the-knee riding boot and now Loeffler Randall brings us their Riley boot which is their famous Mathilde extended beyond the knee a couple of inches.  What I love about the Riley is that there is a zipper up the back 3/4 of the way – which is something the Mathilde never has and above the zipper the boot breaks away so the leg has room to bend and move – lending to the riding chic look. The tobacco color is so rich and beautiful – it reminds me of a fabulous Jane Austen novel where the heroine refuses to conform, choosing to wear pants tucked into these boots with riding jackets, button down blouses, and comfy knits. Translation: they look amazing and are extremely versatile with leggings, denim, all  black, sweater dresses, and skirts. The second Riley OTK boot we received in is the black anaconda embossed boot (top right). This boot is so sexy – the anaconda embossed leather has a black patent type finish which edges the style up a bit but keeps it within wearable bounds being that it is finished in Loeffler’s signature slight wedge bottom – making the boot flat but with a hint of a lift. This boot can easily go from denim and leggings during the day to a short dress and tights in the evening for head turning sex appeal. Loeffler knows how to make a boot and their Riley is their newest must-have staple.
