OTK: Loeffler Randall Riley Boot

Loeffler Randall Over The Knee Riley Boot

Loeffler Randall Over The Knee Riley Boot

Over-the-knee: it isn’t going anywhere. Last year I was very hesitant about  OTK boots as I wondered whether it was a fleeting trend that the likes of only the Victoria Beckhams out there could pull off, but not quite appropriate looking for the rest of us. Last year designers only offered over-the-knee styles that were stiletto and very over the top. I was so excited this year to see that designers have married the over-the-knee idea with styles that evoke a sense of classic ease, a bit equestrian, and of course a bit of sex appeal as well (they are over the knee after all). This evolution of the over-the-knee boot this season has officially solidified  over-the-knee boots as a staple for every woman’s wardrobe for years to come. They aren’t going anywhere and there are so many options out there this season that even the most timid will be able to fall head over knee for them.

We already received our Alexander Wang over-the-knee riding boot and now Loeffler Randall brings us their Riley boot which is their famous Mathilde extended beyond the knee a couple of inches.  What I love about the Riley is that there is a zipper up the back 3/4 of the way – which is something the Mathilde never has and above the zipper the boot breaks away so the leg has room to bend and move – lending to the riding chic look. The tobacco color is so rich and beautiful – it reminds me of a fabulous Jane Austen novel where the heroine refuses to conform, choosing to wear pants tucked into these boots with riding jackets, button down blouses, and comfy knits. Translation: they look amazing and are extremely versatile with leggings, denim, all  black, sweater dresses, and skirts. The second Riley OTK boot we received in is the black anaconda embossed boot (top right). This boot is so sexy – the anaconda embossed leather has a black patent type finish which edges the style up a bit but keeps it within wearable bounds being that it is finished in Loeffler’s signature slight wedge bottom – making the boot flat but with a hint of a lift. This boot can easily go from denim and leggings during the day to a short dress and tights in the evening for head turning sex appeal. Loeffler knows how to make a boot and their Riley is their newest must-have staple.

new: Camilla Skovgaard Pre-Fall Collection

Camilla Skovgaard Summer/Prefall 2010 Collection

Camilla Skovgaard Summer/Prefall 2010 Collection

…..(long sigh of complete and utter happiness). The wait is over. Camilla Skovgaard’s Summer/Pre-Fall Collection has arrived! What I love about Camilla is her subtle balance between a Victorian styling mentality (small leather boot buttons along the shoes and ‘corset’ cage straps) and overt strong female sexuality (with her trademark rubber saw sole, peekaboo cutouts, and intimidatingly sexy overall presence). These shoes are just that – they can make even the most timid feel comfortable wearing them as a slight departure from a boring heel, suddenly turning heads, to the most daring of women who love great shoes that make our legs look celebrity-trainer worthy and don’t mess with me I’m fierce! This is the dichotomy of Camilla’s design aesthetic, which paired with the unbelievable comfort of each style, makes her the most coveted rising shoe designer in the industry.

OBSESSED: rag & bone Moto Boot

rag and bone moto boot

I have been waiting literally on the edge of my seat all season for these bad boys to arrive. They are seriously the best motorcycle boots out there. I love the lines on them -with their trademark rag and bone hardware. Wear them now with pretty sundresses, skirts, mini shorts, and jeans for summer – I love the juxtaposition of super feminine pieces with them. They are boots to live in seriously. The more you wear them and beat them up, the chicer they will look. I see these boots as being my new best friend. They are going to be going practically everywhere with me. In the fall of course with double knit skinnies, jeans, leggings, tights with shorts, and dresses – these are absolute MUST-HAVES!! Thank you again Rag & Bone!

Okay so I know it really is 100 degrees outside and all we can think about wearing are the lightest weight articles of clothing. How to look chic in such hot weather? Today I am wearing my ivory Loeffler Randall shorts romper from this season with my new fav shirt from E+J (above) open and belted over the ensemble with a cognac skinny – oh and of course my favorite cognac gladiator flat sandals from Sigerson Morrison. I know that you are thinking 1/2 sleeve in this weather? However, this shirt is so airy and paper-thin  that it is cooler to me to have something so light shielding my upper arm from the heat than if I was wearing sleeveless. This chambray shirt is so perfect open over shorts with a T by Alexander Wang tank underneath or button up over white jeans, tucked into a black pencil skirt for more of a night/transitional look. There are so many ways one can style this shirt is it endless. What I love best is that it is produced in my favorite button back silhouette that Elizabeth and James has made all of us obsessed over AND the chambray is so much easier to style than stiff denim.

Bottom Line: Chambray Button Down – MUST-HAVE.

Must-Have Shirt: Bell Summer Plaid

Bell Summer Plaid Shirt

Bell Summer Plaid Shirt

Our newest summer weekend wardrobe fav. is the new Bell boyfriend summer plaid shirt. The plaid is such an All-American vintage-style plaid, harkening back days of Donna Reed, the emergence of “dungarees”, keds, and ice cream cones. Style it classically with denim short, white jeans, and blue jeans for an oh so cool summer look. Happy 4th of July!
