Our newest delivery of ADAM is giving us such hope of spring days with birds chirping and flowers blooming despite the current rainy situation. It is such a refreshing spring dress: produced in silk with a soft canary yellow bodice, x-back straps, white elastic contrast waistband, and the most beautiful ice blue silk color as the skirt. I see this dress being worn in so many ways. This weekend (it is supposed to be 70!) I might just grab my new Rag and Bone Saddle Killburn bootie (below)  and top it off with our new Smythe Dickens Blazer/Vest Combo in Navy. (pictured below). In warmer weather, I will be definitely be pairing this with one of our metallic gladiator sandals – flat or heel! Thank you to designer Adam Lippes for designing such a refreshingly happy dress!

Wearing leather into spring and summer is a definite style-do when combined with spring and summer fabrics (denim, linen, cotton) such as the Helmut Lang jacket and the Rag & Bone booties pictured above. The combo balances the leather and gives it a fresh spring vibe. Plus, button down shirts are always a great go-to item during transitional months. Now is a great time to put away the heavier winter items in your shoe wardrobe and begin transitioning with spring boots, booties, caged shoes, peep toes, and pumps. Don’t be afraid to experiment with solid tights and dress socks to keep the look in season. Heavy turtlenecks and winter coats can go away, yet it is important to keep cardigans, vests, sweater, and skirts around to layer with – I usually recommend completely transitioning closer to May/June.  Have a great weekend!

Our Current Obsession:

Obsessed! Rag & Bone’s spring shoe collection just arrived. If there is one high fashion wedge shoe out there that is a must this spring it is the Rag and Bone Victoria gray suede wedge (above middle). They are beyond chic: the color, the contrast top-stitching detail, the wraparound ankle straps, the silver stud closure hardware, and the rubber gripped sole. Right now I plan on wearing them with tights, but in warmer weather they are going to be fantastic bare-legged with shorts, dresses, and skirts.

One of the biggest styling shifts we have seen for spring ‘10 is the continuation of the boot from fall/winter into spring/summer. This new spring/summer boot comes in quite an array of styles. Why have designers chosen to add boots to their spring repertoire? It is about time – their decision is based on the fact that we don’t have a consistent climate anymore. This past weekend it was 70 degrees and now it is overcast and chilly again. This happens throughout the whole spring/summer season.  Our winter boots should be transitioning to our off season closets at this point and the solution to this weather roller coaster? Spring boots. Rag & Bone’s spring boots are so easy to wear for this season and can even will transition perfectly for next fall. Wearing spring boots is simple: pair them now with tights if you want to wear a dress, skirt, or shorts. Wear them easily with any type of jean and also great with the numerous jumpsuits that are out there for spring ‘10.  The emergence of spring socks when tights are no longer necessary has been quite prevalent all over the spring runways and at firs seems very difficult to do with a spring boot (it might bring back nightmares of the scrunch sock days gone by) but fear not this time around they are so much chicer. J. Crew ha a great selection of essential socks to be paired with spring boots as well as the open toed shoes for spring as well.

This light blue suede peep toe (above) is ingeniously finished with a red patent platform and chiseled heel.  It is the most refreshingly modern spring shoe we have ever seen. Whether it is paired back to her red spring sheath dress (click here), denim, white, nude or navy, this shoe is extremely versatile, while its look and comfort are so quintessentially Ports.

How refreshing that the sun is shining, we are above 60 degrees, and spring is definitely on its way. This time of year can be very confusing for everyone when it comes to getting dressed in the morning. Our closets aren’t quite switched over yet from winter to spring/summer but we are so over wearing heavy winter items.  I always think the transitional times of the year are the most fun to style because it really is all about pulling  a little new and a little old for inspiration. It isn’t too early for shorts, or tank tops, and it is a perfect time for spring boots. Today I am wearing our new Rozae by Rozae Nichols black leather perforated pocket tank over my favorite new Alice + Olivia slate shorts, paired with lightweight black tights, and my absolute favorite boots: my Loeffler Randall Patent Python Mathilde. I am never one to wear short shorts, but pairing tights under them is super flattering and makes it so much easier to wear shorts no matter how warm or cool it is this time of year. If there is one suggestion I have for everyone for spring it would be to invest in a couple of great pairs of  lightweight tights: black, grey, plum, or whatever color you need. They are going to get a lot of play and they aren’t going anywhere. They have been pictured all over the spring and  fall ‘10 runways. Enjoy the warm weather!
