This week we will be posting photos of our favorite style icons throughout history. Their style, synonymous with their personalities, inspires how designers create today. When shopping or getting dressed in the morning many times ‘a light goes off in my head’ quite often saying, “This is so Hepburn” or “This is so Annie Hall” – and I know that my outfit works. Why you may ask? Sometimes mixing and matching an outfit can get a bit “do I like it with this top or that?” and then the closet and bedroom end up with clothes strewn about. Yet to have an inspiration to build an outfit off of gives one a style direction that more than likely will result in an “oh so perfect” final look. Today’s style icon is Katharine Hepburn.
I could blog forever about her unique style and personality – she was way ahead of her time with such an innate penchant for feminism. Woody Allen’s, Annie Hall was definitely inspired by Hepburn’s style. Then of course Diane Keaton (we will chat about her later in the week) has infused her personality into the look to translate it into her own take on androgynous dressing. She made pants sexy – proving to the world that ’sexy’ doesn’t have to be showing a ton of skin and leg – it can be a perfectly tailored head to toe look paired with unwavering confidence.
